COVID-19 - NPAA | PPAA Safe Studio Guidelines
Will there be changes to last year’s schedule and class sizes? Yes. There have been several changes made to the schedules in order to decrease the number of students in, or traveling through the building at any one time. Also, some of the class sizes have been reduced to maintain the 6ft safe distance requirements in the classrooms and studios.
Will parents be allowed in the building? Presently, we are unable to host parents in the waiting areas other than to drop off and pick up students. The lobby waiting areas are closed. We urge parents use the Parent Portal to pay their tuition on-line. The on-line payment process is quick, easy and very secure! Only one parent per student can enter the building for drop off. Guests are not allowed inside of the building. Parents may not enter the classrooms or studios.
What are the procedures for student drop off and pick up at Newburgh Performing Arts Academy? The main entrance should be used to enter the building. Masks must always be worn. Social distancing spots must be used to maintain the 6ft distance while walking through the building. Mandatory temperature checks will be taken upon entry into the building and/or classrooms..
Ages 10-18 (NPAA)
Parents should drop off students at the main entrance and not enter the building. We will have parent helpers on-site the first day of classes to escort new students to their classrooms or dance studios. Students will be dismissed from their classrooms and studios without parent escort. Art, Music and Theater students should exit the building through the side door exit by the main lobby staircase. Dance students should exit the building through the main door.
Ages 3-9 (NPAA)
Parent may escort students to from class and quickly exit the building. Art, Music and Theater student parents should exit the building using the side entrance by the main lobby staircase after drop-off. Saturday dance parents must exit through the rear door next to the dance studios. Tuesday 7-9 dance parents will exit through the main entrance after drop-off.
Please be prompt when picking up your student so teachers have time to perform sanitizing duties to prepare for their next class.

Please drop-off your student, exit and return at the end of class for pick-up. .

How often will the dance studios and classrooms be sanitized? The building will be sanitized daily prior to student arrival. Common spaces and areas most touched such as dance studios, door handles, bathrooms, ballet barres, mirrors, stair railings, piano keys, music room stools, stereo equipment and musical instruments will be sanitized throughout the day.
Are the masks required? Yes. Everyone entering the building is required to wear a mask. Students will wear masks during classes and mask breaks will be given when needed. Dance teachers will go at slow pace, so the students can get used to moving around in their masks.
How will the 6ft social distancing rules be enforced in the classrooms? Students will have assigned areas in their classrooms and studios. The rooms have been pre-measured to ensure adherence to the CDC policy for 6ft social distancing. Students will be required to remain in their assigned areas during classes. In classes where movement is required, the floors will be marked, and teachers will ensure the rules are followed. Dance students will have their own 6ft personal boxes outlined on the dance studio floor.
Where will students store their personal belongings during classes? Students will be assigned clothing bins to hold their personal belongings while in class.. The bins will be kept in the classrooms and studios and will be sanitized after each class.
What are the new restroom rules? This is a very important question. We encourage all students to use the bathroom at home before they arrive to avoid trips to the restrooms. There will be no full wardrobe changes allowed in the bathrooms. Dance students must arrive fully dressed in their dance attire for their first class. Hands must be washed for 20 seconds after bathroom use and hand sanitizer must be applied.
Will the concession stand be open on Saturdays at NPAA? The concession stand will be closed until further notice. Water and light snacks from home are permitted. Please do not bring in meals with the intent to consume them in the building.
Will dance students still have access to the dressing room?
The dressing rooms are closed until further notice. Dance students must arrive fully dressed in their dance attire for their first class.
What will happen if a new “stay-at-home” order is issued?
We will comply and switch to on-line classes until the stay at home order Is lifted.
What will happen if a student tests positive for COVID-19? Parents will be notified immediately, and the affected student’s classroom will be cleaned and sanitized. Students in the affected class will quarantine for 14 days.
