NPAA/PPAA Policies and Rates

Newburgh & Poughkeepsie Performing Arts Academy
Tuition, Rules & Regulations

  • Classes begin promptly as scheduled; therefore, students should arrive at least 3 minutes prior to the start of class. Students who are 10 minutes late for class may be admitted into the classroom and may observe the session, but will not be allowed to participate. Lateness is extremely disruptive to the learning process.

  • Students must enter the classroom prepared to learn. We do not discipline students. Students who refuse to engage
in classroom activities or whose behavior is rude or disrespectful, will be asked to leave the classroom. Subsequent disruptive behavior will result in termination from the program.

  • Regular attendance is crucial to the development of individual skills and satisfactory progression through the class curriculum. We ask that students not miss more than classes per year. We cannot express how much your child’s development will depend on your commitment. Each class missed places the student behind classmates and slows down progression.

  • Art & Acting students – Smocks/Aprons are provided as needed, but students should not wear valuable clothing or jewelry to class.  Please wear comfortable loose clothing.

  • Tuition Payment - Students with payments more than 10 days past due will incur a late fee of $15.  Students with payments 30 days past due will NOT be allowed to attend class until their account is made current.  Class changes must be communicated by contacting the Academy at 845-562-5650.  There is a $40 return check fee.

  • Withdrawal is not effective until you submit a completed withdrawal form. Failure to attend class does not constitute withdrawal. If you fail to submit a completed withdrawal form, your account will continue to be billed whether your child attends the class or not.

  • Dance Recital Costume Fees - Dance students pay a costume fee for each enrolled class in order to participate
in the end of year dance recital. Costume fee payments are billed in two installments; on November 1 and again on

February 1. Costume fees are $75 per class.

  • Dance Students -  After the first three weeks of class, students who are not appropriately dressed may watch but not participate in class. Hair must be be pulled back off the face in a bun. NO loose hair, jewelry, scarves, hair beads, du-rags, baggy t-shirts or leotards that are unsuitable for class (soiled, torn etc.).
